Botox Isn’t Just For Wrinkles

Botox is commonly known for its cosmetic uses, but it can be used for different medical purposes. While we all know Botox injections can banish wrinkles temporarily, there are other purposes of Botox that might not be as obvious.

Botox reduces excessive sweating

Maybe you don’t have any wrinkles or none that you want to treat just yet. But if you find that you sweat excessively,…

Detroit SmartLipo Workshop

I was just in Detroit Rock City Demonstrating Smart-Lipo. Procedure was done at The MGM Grand Casino. Patient was very happy with the procedure, I removed unwanted fat in the sub-mentum. Followed up with a Fractional CO2 for very impressive skin tightening. A factional CO2 was also done on the back of the hands. This is an area that is often neglected by most Doctors. We concentrate all of our efforts on the face and body, and forget about the dreaded “Granny Hands”. Sun damage affects…

NEWS! Facebook changes it's laws to allow for mastectomy photos

This is a good step in the right direction to bring awareness to this procedure. Bravo Facebook for realizing the bravery of these women and survivors who should be allowed to share their experiences including photos.

Get your Roger Moore on!

Men today want to look chiseled and youthful. It's a little bit of ego mixed with a competitive nature that keeps them interested in the aesthetic side of life. According to the ASAPS in 2011 men represent 800,000 procedures out of the 9 million performed. That's a large percent! Procedures for men have increased by over 121% from 1997.

Procedures that interest men range from the non-surgical facial injections to liposuction. It is imperative to find a cosmetic physican who is… Continue

Fact About Sugar

A little known fact about sugar. Not only is it bad for your waistline, but it also causes glycation in the skin. glycation damages collagen leading to premature aging and wrinkles.

Another good reason to avoid ice cream and keep the lid on the cookie jar.

Sun and Fun

Now that the sun is shining and the coats are being shed it's time to talk about sunscreen again. Protection is the base of all anti- aging regimes and I recommend it to every oen of my patients.

What a lot of people don't realize is that you need to apply enough to have adequate protection. Approximately one ounce per body part is what is recommended. Measuring out the amount for a little while is a good idea until you can eyeball it more acurately.

A full spectrum sunblock is what… Continue

Losing it

Spring isn't just the time to clean house, it's time to clean out your body. Detox treatments, new work outs and clean eating are all in fashion this time of year. My medical spa has introduced a new program called Ideal Protein. The thing about diets and body maintenance programs are that they have to be realistic.

What I mean by realistic is that you have to have a program or diet that suits your lifestyle and is practical for you to follow. Let's say you choose a new program that… Continue

Spring is here - show those legs!

Now that spring is here you must be thinking about your legs and how you can eliminate the unsightly cellulite when in a bathing suit or mini skirt.

A decade ago there was no solution.  Today there are surgical and non-surgical options like Cellulaze, Tite FX, Venus Freeze, VelaShape and much much more.  A good consultation and assessment of the area needs to be conducted first and then a decision needs to be made on how to proceed.  The option that is right for you will fit your…

What does THAT mean?

Have you ever heard a plastic surgery term you didn't understand? Maybe you were researching something, or watching a show on tv. Sometimes it's a friend that drops the term and you stand there scratching your head asking - what does that mean and do I need to know about it?

Recently there Was an article that was directly at this topic to help consumers battle the terminology of our industry that is unclear or maybe even a little scary. It's a good and educational read!…

Finding a cosmetic physician

It's hard to know who to go to when you want a little aesthetic assistance. The ads, the commercials and of course, all the media coverage can be confusing. I am finding more and more that references from friends and family are worth their weight in gold. What to do when you are the first in your crowd to seek cosmetic advice or too shy to ask?

Referal sources like and a all great ways to find the right MD and clinic for your concerns. Real patient experiences and… Continue

Lip Service

One of the areas we seeing aging of the face first is in the lips. It's the entire area, not just the pink pout we see. It's the lipstick lines, laugh creases, marionettes and loss of volume that make the face look tired and aged.

There are many things one can do for mouth rejuvenation. I'll list each "zone" and cover what can be done to freshen up your smile.

For lines around the lips, we treat with several options depending on the depth of the lines; CO2 for deep lines, fractional… Continue

The Best Mother's Day Ever

Want to give your mother soemthing she will remember and treasure forever? Ask her what she wants on her aesthetic wish list! We often think that offering gifts of medical cosmetic treatments will be offensive but that is not the case when it's done in the spirit of love. By asking mom what she may be interested in doing, you may be suprised how much she has thought about cosmetic services but never treated herself to the time. Mom's typically put all of us first and leave whatever is left for… Continue

BodyTite Liposuction Workshop in Dubai

I was recently in the Middle East. One might think that cosmetic plastic surgery might be less prevalent if many people must keep their bodies covered a substantial period of time while in public. However, body enhancement surgery, liposuction and breast procedures are very common, proof that many patients desire optimal contours for very personal reasons and not always for public consumption. I had the honor of conducting a BodyTite…

AAD 2013

This year, like every year, the largest "skin" show in North America is happening, it's called the AAD. This year it's in Miami so a lot of us going will appreciate the warm weather and sunny mornings (of course, with adequate sunscreen). The reason we all flock to this show is because this is the season and the event when we get to learn new things, hear about exciting advances in our field of aesthetic medicine and present what we have been working on the past year.

I won't give… Continue

After the valentine's chocolates and wine

Today is the day after the Lindt chocolates and the red wine. Although the flowers are still looking fresh you may be feeling a little remorseful and unhappy about breaking your New Years resolutions. It's not all lost and one day will not make a huge difference in your overall results in body contouring if you immediately go back to proper eating and healthy physical activity.

I'm often asked if one needs to continue or start dieting if they have liposuction. My answer is always the same,… Continue

A new lease on lifting

As a cosmetic plastic surgeon my main focus is on the aesthetic enhancement of the face, neck and body. The best results a patient can recieve is with a knife, period. So we all thought. Today that is not the case. We have non-surgical options that can give us much of what a nip and tuck can do with little to no downtime and certainly less risks. Although these non-surgical options are not replacing the need for cosmetic surgery, they are opening the doors to patients who would not have been a… Continue
